1. Summary
WindowReturn is operated by Kadir Kiraş in Türkiye. Saved layouts are local files on your Mac. WindowReturn does not require an in-app account, upload your layouts, sell personal information, run advertising, or use session replay.
2. Data stored locally
A layout can contain app names and identifiers, window titles, display identifiers, Desktop numbers, window sizes and positions, and the locations of saved Finder folders. This information stays on your Mac and is used only to show and restore your layouts.
Your settings—such as automatic restore, notifications, launch at login, wake restore, and anonymous diagnostics—are also stored locally. You can delete individual layouts in WindowReturn.
3. Trial and licensing
WindowReturn protects your license key, activation record, trial dates, license-check dates, license status, and a randomly generated installation identifier in macOS Keychain. It does not identify your Mac by its serial number, network hardware address, computer name, window titles, or layouts.
To activate, check, or deactivate your license, WindowReturn sends your license key, a generated activation name, and product identifiers to Lemon Squeezy over an encrypted connection. Lemon Squeezy separately processes purchase and billing details under its own privacy terms.
4. Optional anonymous diagnostics
Diagnostics are off by default. If you turn on “Share Anonymous Diagnostics,” WindowReturn may send limited information about feature use, restore counts and duration, error codes, app version and build, and technical details about where a handled error occurred to PostHog’s EU service. Reports of crashes that close the app are not collected automatically.
Diagnostics never include
- window titles, application names, or app identifiers;
- layout names, layout content, window positions, or display identifiers;
- license keys, email addresses, user names, or computer names;
- Finder folder locations, documents, screenshots, screen recordings, or replays of your activity;
- advertising identifiers, contacts, or hardware fingerprints.
The diagnostics service starts only after you opt in. It does not build personal profiles, use your IP address to estimate your location, automatically record your interactions, or track advertising activity. Turning diagnostics off stops collection, cancels pending transfers, and deletes reports waiting to be sent. It cannot recall data already delivered to the service. The service can see your IP address while receiving a request, as with any internet connection.
5. This website
The WindowReturn website does not include advertising trackers, analytics scripts, third-party fonts, session replay, or newsletter forms. Standard hosting logs—including IP address, requested URL, user agent, and timestamp—may be processed by Cloudflare Pages under its published privacy and retention terms for security and reliable delivery.
Purchase and download links take you to the configured checkout and release services. Those services apply their own privacy policies.
6. Service providers
- Lemon Squeezy: merchant of record, payment processing, tax handling, receipt delivery, license generation, and activation.
- PostHog EU: optional anonymous diagnostics and error tracking only after your opt-in.
- Cloudflare Pages: website delivery and standard security logs.
- Cloudflare R2: secure delivery of the notarized app package.
We use these providers for the purposes listed; their processing is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Depending on their infrastructure, these providers may process data outside your country. Where required, transfers rely on applicable contractual and legal safeguards described in each provider's linked privacy policy.
7. Retention
Layouts remain on your Mac until you delete them, even after uninstalling the app. Deactivating removes the active license from the app. A random installation identifier and trial dates remain protected in macOS Keychain across reinstalls to prevent trial resets. Contact support if you need help removing local data.
Optional diagnostics follow PostHog's event-retention policy. Our plan has a standard history window of approximately 365 days. PostHog is rolling out automatic expiry, so this is not a guaranteed deletion deadline. You can contact us with a privacy or deletion request.
Support messages are retained only as long as needed to resolve the request and maintain necessary business records. Lemon Squeezy retains purchase records under its merchant, tax, and legal obligations.
8. Your choices and rights
You can keep diagnostics disabled, turn them off at any time, delete layouts, deactivate a license, or contact us about a privacy request. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing and to lodge a complaint with a privacy authority.
9. Security
WindowReturn restricts access to saved layout files, protects license information with macOS Keychain, and uses encrypted connections to online services. Optional diagnostics are limited to the information described above. No security measure is absolute; report a suspected issue privately to [email protected].
10. Changes
Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date and, when appropriate, communicating them through the product or release notes.
